PLC Control and Automation training

Overview and content

This is 10-day intensive course for the manufacturing engineering industry.

Candidates will develop the fundamental knowledge to allow them to perform routine lineside PLC operations. They will be able to programme, fault find, diagnose and rectify technical issues on a selection of common PLC platforms using basic and advanced features.

Learning objectives

Practical and simulation exercises will be carried out using Siemens Simatic S7-1200 PLCs and TIA, Mitsubishi GX Works and GX Developer, Allen-Bradley simulation, Rockwell RSLogix 500 simulation.

The course will run through the basic and advanced features of current PLC products. Candidates will be given a broad range of practical exercises to solve using a range of bespoke training equipment and will also be introduced to HMI software and communication protocols.

Candidates will have hands on practical training with Siemens Simatic S7-1200 PLCs to control electro-pneumatic apparatus. The bespoke equipment is also networked with Siemens HMIs and time will be spent developing HMI screens and downloading using Siemens TIA with Winn CC.

Entry requirements

An understanding of basic PLCs, electrical principles and number bases would be advantageous but not essential.

This 10-day course is delivered in a two-week block.

It can also be arranged on demand if a group of 5 (minimum) can attend.
